What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. (http://www.reiki.org/faq/whatisreiki.html) It operates off the energy meridian and chakra system (also used by Acupuncturists).
How does the treatment work?
To begin with, three or four sessions over ten to fourteen days are recommended to remove entrenched blocks in your energy system; then once a week or once every two weeks until the issue has resolved. You will begin to notice some improvement after the first session. Disease generally begins in the energy field, as a result of repressed/unexpressed emotion, so if we keep our subtle bodies healthy using Reiki, and our physical bodies healthy with good nutrition and exercise, we should be able to remain active and balanced.
What is the Chakra system?
There are 7 Chakras in the human body, each vibrating at a different frequency. Energy flows through the chakras from one part of the body to another. If your chakras are blocked, your energy flow is impacted and this can have physical impacts on the body: pains, stress and other more serious physiological impacts. Reiki helps to clear this system allowing the body to repair itself. Each chakra corresponds to a colour and internal organ or body part and performs specific functions within the system.
